Vía Crucis - Monument Puerto San Julián - Argentina

Atop Cerro Montecristo, a sudden rise on the flat plains around Puerto San Julián, is Vía Lucis, or Path of Light. This creation of artist Luis Quiroz is of the 14 Stations of the Cross, made of cement encrusted with sea shells and stones, set in volcanic rock frames. Unlike other Stations of the Cross, which show scenes leading up to the crucifixion of Jesus, Vía Lucis celebrates Christ’s resurrection, his encounters with the Apostles, and his ascension to heaven. The views of the bay and islands from atop Cerro Montecristo are magnificent.
