Puerto Santa Cruz is located at the eastern end of Ruta Nacional 288, 36 kilometers (22 mi) from Piedra Buena. In town are gas stations, mechanics and tire repair shops.

From the Terminal de Ómnibus, Taqsa has a once-daily bus to northern destinations, including to Puerto San Julián and Caleta Olivia (10:50 p.m.). This company also has service to Río Gallegos (daily 4:30 a.m., $9.50, 3 hr), as do Andesmar (daily 9:30 a.m., $9-11, 3.5 hours) and El Pingüino (daily 5:45 a.m., $6, 2.5 hr). More frequent transport leaves from Piedra Buena. During the low season, bus service is less frequent. Rains or snows can temporary close the road at any time of the year.
