Safety

Sarmiento is a safe town; crime is virtually unknown. Mother Nature, though, throws a few left curves at visitors. The winds can reach over 100 kilometers (60 mi) per hour, which makes even walking difficult. If biking or driving, beware of flying gravel and dirt. If driving through this part of the country during the winter (May-October), check with the tourism office or transportation department about road conditions.
