Explore the ragged landscape surrounding El Chaltén the way the pioneers did: on horseback. Even now, locals travel the backcountry on horse. The most common trail is on Cerro Fitz Roy, the most famous of the mountains on this northern side of Parque Nacional Los Glaciares. This half-day journey takes riders to the base of the massif, through untouched forests mottled with lakelets. The Valle del RÃo de las Vueltas is a three-hour route following the course of the river. Other excursions can be arranged.
