Laguna Torre Hike - Trekking El Chaltén - Argentina

Hikers hoping to get a perfect view of Cerro Torre should set off for Laguna Torre, a glacial lake at the foot of the mountain. The lake is a reasonable turn-around point for a day hike out of El Chaltén, and is reached via an interesting, but not overly taxing, 9-kilometer (5.6 mi) trail. The trailhead on Calle Riquelme is marked with a sign, and, after leaving town, the path closely follows the Río Fitz Roy valley. At the end of the trail, you will have to ascend a small moraine and some sand dunes, but it is the view of Cerro Torre, rather than the climb, that is likely to take your breath away.
