V!VA User‘s Description
The twin cities of Viedma and Carmen de Patagones, separated by the Rio Negro and located off the coast of the Southern Atlantic Ocean are considered the gateway to Patagonia. Viedma is the more modern of the two, though it is home to a “historical block,” including a cathedral and the Salesian College. Bridges over the Rio Negro connect Viedma to Carmen de Patagones, which features more of the old colonial Argentina. Neighboring attractions include a Marine Wolf sea mammal colony and a 19th century lighthouse.
