This is Areco’s top attraction, a goldmine for anyone interested in the country ranch lifestyle. Across the river from town, the Parque Criollo surrounds the museum, housed in a historic ranch building. Both have been there since 1979, and were declared a National Historic Monument in 1999. The museum includes the Pulpería la Blanqueada, where wax figures play cards at a bar and throw you into the world of the gaucho. Other exhibits show saddles, branding iron collection, traditional knives, artwork and Ricardo Güiraldes artifacts, including an original copy of Don Segundo Sombra.
