Poncho Huasi B&B is an old colonial house in the countryside near the city of Salta. Owner Alicia is a local and her husband Nick is from the UK. They both speak English and will help arrange trips for small groups with English-speaking guides.
There are only four guest rooms, so the place never feels like a hotel. Plus there’s a huge garden and a big swimming pool with a fantastic view of the hills.
Just let them know when you're going to arrive, and they’ll pick you up at the bus station or airport.

Planning a trip with the family always means trouble. We are a married couple, with 3 sons (two of them, teenagers) from Buenos Aires (Argentina). Poncho Huasi was the answer to our thoughts and needs since the moment we got to its website. A cozy, elegant and quiet "old fashioned Casona" right in the heart of the NOA (Argentinian North West) one of the most beautiful regions of our country. Due to its perfect location, Poncho Huasi became a strategy point to set our trip. A few minutes away from the City of Salta, in the very nice neigbourhood of Cerrillos, This great place allows you to choose between the quietness of an evening by the pool in a beautiful garden surrounded by nature or spending time in the city, visiting Galleries, Museums and, of course!, trying regional food in one of its several restaurants. (Don't hesitate treating yourself with a Lama empanada!, it's delicious!). Alicia and Nick Evans, our Hosts in Poncho Huasi Know all the right places, they helped us and took care of every single detail to make our 4 day stay a wonderful experience, moments we will cherish in our hearts forever. They even joined us (visiting three other cities) as our trip went forward! we really had a great time, I just can't wait to go there again this summer! As I said in the beginning of this note, planning a trip is always a mess, but if there were more places like Poncho Huasi (with fabulous Hosts like Alicia and Nick) it would never be like that! Ian.-
At the price I really can't say anything bad at all about Poncho Huasi. Nick and Alicia are incredibly welcoming and sociable with guests. They have probably the largest swimming pool in town and a nice big garden. Breakfast is something else, very tasty. Highly recomended
This B&B is a very cosy and relaxed place. Perfect if you want to explore the area around Salta. Extremely friendly (and multilingual) staff who creates a great atmosphere. Spacious, clean rooms. Nice pool too!
We stayed at Poncho Huasi for 3 nights at the end of September 2008. The thing we liked most is that Nick and Alicia give you a taste of the real rural Argentinian life. Without being pushy they welcome you into their home and if you want they will show you what Salta and Argentina are all about. In our case, we went with Nick to a football (soccer) match. This was a fun experience. Although it was a low division there were thousands of people in the stands and the atmosphere was great. The B&B itself is nice and clean. Nick and Alicia are always willing to answer any questions you have and are really helpful. The swimmingpool is very relaxing and there is Internet access. In short, it is a great getaway in rural Argentina only a few minutes away from beautiful colonial Salta!
