San Antonio de los Cobres is 140 kilometers (87 miles) from the border of Argentina and Chile. It’s not far, but most locals will discourage you from crossing this way. If you’re insistent, however, you have two options. The first is to follow Route 51 to Sico Pass, and the second is along Route 129 to the province of Catamarca. Both would, however, necessitate a car, as San Antonio de los Cobres is not serviced by many buses. A better option would be to take a bus from Salta to Susques or another border town.
