Garganta del Diablo

Garganta del Diablo (devil’s throat) is a massive rock formation and waterfall seven kilometers from Tilcara.

From town, it is a two hour hike, half hour car ride or it can be reached on horseback. Stop at the top to enjoy breathtaking views of the canyon. Tours (in Spanish only) depart at 12:30 p.m. daily for $16. The four hour tour leads you to the Garganta and back, providing commentary on the geology and Andean history.

Ask at the tourism office for more information.
