Convento San Bernado - History Salta - Argentina

The beautiful 16th century colonial building evolved from hermitage to hospital to convent, and today it is still home to Carmelite nuns. Though closed to the public, it’s worth a visit to check out the lovely architecture, including the elaborate algarrobo wood door, carved in the 18th century. There is also a tiny gift shop, and those determined to see inside can go for mass, when the chapel opens.
