Iglesia San Francisco - Historical Building Salta - Argentina

Built in 1625, the Iglesia San Francisco had to be rebuilt after a fire in the 18th century. The reconstruction, led by Fray Vicente Mu├▒oz, architect of the Iglesia de San Francisco in Buenos Aires and of the C├│rdoba Cathedral's dome, gave birth to the church as visitors can see it today.

In spite of some important modifications in 1870, the Iglesia San Francisco has conserved important elements over the years, such as the image of Se├▒ora de las Nieves, San Pedro Alc├íntara and a painting of the Santo de As├şs. The church was declared an Historic National Monument in 1941, and it also features a small museum and library.
