When to Go

The average temperature in Salta is 20ºC (68ºF) in summer and 11ºC (52ºF) in winter. Any season should then be appropriate to visit Salta.

Every 15th of September, Salta celebrates its patrons, Señor and Virgen del Milagro. It is the opportunity for visitors to watch the religious procession.

One of the main cultural events in Salta however is the April Culture Festival: during the whole month of April, cultural performances, handcraft expositions and live music entertain the city and its visitors.

In February, Salta hosts its carnaval. Each year, the "corsos de flores" or flower carriages are made in a village near Salta, Cerrillos. The participants to the parade then perform traditional danses.

Having several theatres and museums, the city has a busy calendar for other cultural events of all types (art exhibitions, concerts, theatre plays...).
