Mercado Artesanal - Shopping Salta - Argentina

The finest and most traditional artisans from Salta Province may be visited in the Mercado Artesanal. In a 16th Century hacienda estate, tourists browse the many shops, sample the homemade sweets and watch weavers at their craft. Besides alpaca and llama woolens from the puna, there are Wichí chaguar bags and belts from the steamy Chaco plains, slate carvings from the north and other creations. Mercado Artesanal is open Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-9 p.m., weekends 9 a.m.-8 p.m. To get to there, catch city bus 5-From along Avenida San Martín ($0.40); it will leave you two blocks from the market.
