Upianita - Other Activity Santiago Del Estero - Argentina

Upianita, a small village south of Santiago del Estero, is known for its artisan and musical traditions. On Saturdays, it hosts a Feria Artesanal selling local crafts and gastronomic products (11 a.m.-6 p.m.). Upianita also has an open-air museum of sculptures carved in algarrobo, quebracho and other native woods. The works depict regional legends and are done by artists from all over Argentina.

Upianita is part of the Camino Real, a project to preserve the traditions and cultures of villages south of Santiago. The route’s other towns are San Pedro, Manogasta, Villa Silípica and Sumamao.
