Tucumán & Around

Tucumán and its natural surroundings offer travelers plenty of diverse experiences. A perfect representation of the geography in the Tucumán region is the colorful Calchaqui Valley, which is a mix of mountains and subtropical forest that was once the dwelling place of indigenous tribes. Fossils of extinct animals and dinosaur footprints were discovered at the nearby Los Cardones National Park. One of the most important archaeological sites is the Quilmes ruins. They were originally a fortress settlement constructed by the Quilmes Indian tribe, who resisted the Spanish for more than 100 years.
