Centro Civico Tower, Bariloche City Center

Some of the region’s (if not the continent’s) prettiest drives loop through the area, including the popular winding Circuito Chico; the 240 km Circuito Grande, passing the spectacular rock formations of Valle Encantado; and the famous and breathtaking Ruta de los Siete Lagos, a must see.

Refugio Frey at Cerro Catedral and exploring the glaciers of Cerro Tronador make great one to several-day excursions from Bariloche.

Visiting Isla Victoria and Puerto Blest from Puerto Pañuelo are popular lake trips, as is the Three Lakes Crossing into Puerto Montt in Chile, an exciting (though expensive) border crossing adventure.

The town center is home to one of Patagonia’s finest museums, Museo de la Patagonia, providing an interesting look into the regions history and culture. Most of the region’s best shops, chocolate houses, ice-cream parlours and local specialties can be found along the busy Calle Mitre.
