With so many outdoorsy winter activities, gorgeous summer days and a pleasant climate between seasons, there’s really no bad time to visit Bariloche, and each season takes on a life of its own. Summer months are perfect for hiking, biking, playing on the lakes and all things outdoors.
Winter blankets the place in snow and brings in a frenzy of skiers from all over. The National Snow Festival in August is a week packed with competitions and events. In July, descendents of immigrants parade in traditional costumes at the “Fiesta de las Comunidades” (Ethnic Community Festival. January and February are good months for music lovers, with the Festival of Chamber Music, Festival of Bronzes, and Festival of Ancient Music livening the place up.
If you’re seeking a quiet getaway from the masses, however, avoid the high season months of January and February and high ski season in July and August, when tourists and city folk flock to the area and prices soar.
