Popular among the tourist crowd, Familia Weiss is about as close to being a Bariloche institution as you can get. The Weiss family has been in Bariloche for decades, forging a reputation in the region for its smoked meats and cheeses. In fact, their specialty store (located just a block and a half away) sells much of what you can get in the restaurant. Stopping in for the dining experience is worth it, though, what with a rustic lodge-like atmosphere and a broad selection of delicious food on offer. On the more expensive side, the restaurant specializes in regional favorites (salmon, boar, or fondue) that go for between $10-13 a plate, while the popular picadas go for between $10 and $22. Homemade beers are available for $2 per chopp or $3 per pint. If you’ve only got one night in Bariloche, this is the place you should go to eat.
