All the rivers and waterworks in the area make it easy to believe how popular rafting is in Bariloche. Most rafting takes place on the Rio Manso, which is broken into three main sections: Manso Inferior, Manso Medio and Manso Superior. Rapids rang from class II-IV.

Typical guided trips run half or full day. Some outfits now offer multi-day excursions, which often combine hiking and sightseeing. Be sure to ask in advance if the tour company has a “rescue guy” in a kayak following the raft for safety.

Book trips through hostels or travel agencies in Bariloche. Aguas Blancas is the largest operator.
