The El Bolsón valley is criss-crossed with hiking trails that bring adventurers deep into the Andean mountains. The majority of the trails lead to manned huts that offer hot meals, beds and sometimes home-brewed beer. In contrast to the hiking in Bariloche, the trails in El Bolsón venture up valley canyons, eventually leading to an impressive mountain or brilliant blue glacier signaling the turn-around point. The majority of the trails are steep in sections and require some athletic ability. Also, many of the trail heads are most easily accessed by a car, though taxis from El Bolsón will take you to some of them. Check with the tourist office for maps and trail conditions.
