Accommodations in Esquel include the full range of the five-star system. The town, itself, doesn’t have the glitz and glamour of Villa La Angostura, Bariloche or San Martin. This extends to the sleeping facilities as well. There are some decent, higher-end hotels, but their stars wouldn’t be so numerous if they were located elsewhere. There are a few fun, internationally influenced hostels in the center town, well-located for stumbling distance to bars and restaurants. For those that want to be on the mountain often during your stay, but don’t have a car, it is advisable to stay in one of the many cabaña establishments set up on Ruta 259, leading to the dirt road accessing the ski area, La Hoya. If you have transportation, a great place for value, peace and quiet as well as your own pad, check out Villa Ayelén, located two kilometers south of city center. The village is nothing but cabañas waiting to be rented to tourists.
