Traveling to and from Esquel can be done with car, bus or plane. Ruta 259 runs through Esquel via route 40 from the north by way of El Bolsón, coming from Trelew from the southeast or Parque Nacional Los Alerces from the southwest. Various buses have multiple routes coming in and out of Esquel from Chile, southern Patagonia and north of town. The main bus terminal is located on Avenida Alvear 1871. There are eleven different bus companies that run from the station to places throughout the country. The most popular bus companies are Andesmar (telephone: 450143), Via Bariloche (telephone: 453528) and Crucero del Norte (telephone: 543038). There are two different airline companies that fly into Esquel’s small airport; Aerolineas Argentinas (Avenida Fontana 408, telephone 453614 / 3413) and L.A.D.E (Avenida Alvear 1085, telephone 452124). Aerolineas Argentinas is usually the preferred airline, although L.A.D.E has been known to have empty seats on planes at the last minute.
