Esquel is a friendly town. As with anywhere it is important to keeps your wits about you but the majority of locals appreciate foreigners. There are security guards and police cruising the streets, helping to promote safety. It is advisable to take a taxi home late at night if staying on the outskirts of town. It is also important to note, if traveling with mountain gear it is important to keep it stored in a safe place while not in use. As with all ski towns, the frequency of gear theft is heightened with lack of awareness.
