The landscape surrounding San Martín de los Andes is green, lush and forested, sparkling with emerald and azure mountain lakes.
The town borders the Parque Nacional Lanín (Lanín National Park) with stunning views all within a day's drive. Among the not-to-be-missed sights are Volcano Lanín (which resembles Mount Fuji), mountains rising beyond Lago Huechulafquen and open steppe.
San Martín’s main body of water is Lago Lácar and you can go camping or hiking along the lake shore, which offers mesmerizing views. Head 15 minutes beyoind Lácar and you'll come across Lago Lolog, another underutilized natural treasure with trails wandering through old-growth forests and private camp sites. Lago Lolog also has excellent fishing spots.
