Parque Nacional Nahuel Huapi

In the middle of Argentine Patagonia, Parque Nacional Nahuel Huapi offers various tracks among the mountains and lakes from which you can discover the abundant flora and fauna.

Situated to the southeast of Neuquén Province and to the northeast of Río Negro Province., the park offers a bunch of outdoor activities all year long, such as trekking, biking, horseback riding, climbing, kayaking, rafting and fishing.

Among the main spots to visit, the most impressive are Lago Nahuel Huapi and Cerro Tronador, Nahuel Huapi's highest point (3,554 m / 11,660 ft), both surrounded by valleys, mountains and more than 60 lakes.

Some of the tracks to follow include El Circuito de los Siete Lagos, which winds between the main lakes; the Cerro Tronador, which offers views of the glaciers and climbing possibilties; and the Bosque de Arrayanes, where you can explore unique fauna and flora.

Most travelers explore the park from Bariloche (near where many of the main attractions are) or Villa La Angostura. However, various hotels, cabins and hostels exist in the park if you plan to stay overnight. For those doing several days of trekking or hiking, the mountain refuges are the best option. URL:
