Climbing Lanín - Hiking Junín De Los Andes - Argentina

At 3,776 meters, volcano Lanín is snow-capped year-round, making crampons and ice axes necessary for all hikers. The base of the volcano is easily reached by travelers along Ruta 60, which causes many people to underestimate the difficulty of reaching Lanín's summit. Reaching the top of Lanín is a difficult three to four day hike depending on what route you take and only hikers who are in good shape, have the proper equipment and have a good guide with them should attempt to climb the extinct volcano. At Tromen Pass along Ruta 60, visitors will find a Park Ranger station (guardaparque) where they should be sure to register their hike, get more information and tips about their hike, and have their equipment checked by experts.
