Underwater Forest - Boating Lago Traful - Argentina

In the 1960s, a landslide caused a large forested area to fall off of either Bayo Hill or Alto Mahuida into Lago Traful. At least 60 Cypress that fell off of a high point kept their roots firmly planted in the Earth as it fell, and today, those trees are still standing upright under water. The tops of the trees that poke out of the water are faded from exposure to the sunlight, and the lake is so clear that visitors can see the trunks resting on the bottom of the lake. Many adventure seekers like to scuba dive in this spot. The underwater forest is on the northern end of the lake and can only be accessed by boat, but Traful Extremo tours (Ruta 65, Villa Traful; Cel: +54 15 21-0759) provides excursions to the site.
