Getting To and Away

The most accessible part of Lago Lácar is along its northeastern coast, where the town of San Martín de los Andes sits. The town is small enough that you can walk to the lake from nearly any point. From San Martín, the unpaved Ruta 48 runs the entire length of the northern edge of the lake and continues into the Hua Hum pass that leads into Chile. From San Martin, visitors can take a public bus that along Ruta 48 and can get off the bus at any point by asking the driver. Heading South, Rutas 234 and 108 run along part of the southeastern edge of the lake. Daily bus service is available from San Martín to Villa la Angostura, Bariloche, and Junín de los Andes. The bus station in San Martín is located downtown about two blocks away from Lago Lácar's beaches.
