Argentina's Lake District is a diverse playground for outdoor enthusiasts. Many of the region's lakes and rivers are world-renowned for their salmon and trout fishing opportunities, and fly fishing is especially popular. Horseback rides across the Andes and kayaking or rafting the many rivers are exciting as well. Rather than driving the Seven Lakes route, many people opt to bike it instead, but the route can be challenging and is often unpaved. The Circuito Chico out of Bariloche provides an easier day-ride that still offers gorgeous views of the lake and loops around the famous Llao Llao Resort. In the winter months there are several ski resorts, most of which offer other winter activities such as snowshoeing, dog sledding and snowmobiling. Bariloche and San MartÃn de los Andes offer two of the biggest resorts with a wide variety of ski lifts and runs. Throughout the Lake District, visitors are just a few kilometers away from the Chilean border, and there are several convenient spots to cross over into the Chilean lake district.
