Crimes are very uncommon in all of the towns of the Lake District, but travelers should always be aware of where their belongings are and use common sense. All visitors who decide to hike or camp throughout the region's national parks need to be sure to register with Park Rangers (guardaparque) both before and after your hike. Outside of those parks, many towns have their own stations where hikers should register for safety purposes. Hiking outside of the summer months can be dangerous if paths become obstructed by snow. Bicycling throughout the region is very popular, but cyclists should be aware that Argentinian drivers are not known for sharing the road well.
