By Bus
Buses and minivans travel daily from Rio Grande to Ushuaia via the National Route 3, stopping at the Panaderia La Unión in Tolhuin. It’s roughly 132 kilometers from Río Grande to Tolhuin, and another 108 kilometers further south from Tolhuin to Ushuaia.
During the high season, more companies provide service to / from Tolhin. Buses are more frequent as well, and fares higher. From autumn to spring, weather can affect travel.
To Ushuia: $10,1.5-1.75 hours -- Montiel (every 2 hours, Monday-Saturday 7:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m., Sunday and holidays every 2-3 hours 11 a.m.-10:45 p.m.), Líder (every 2 hours, daily 7:30 a.m.- 8 p.m.)
To Río Grande: 10,1.5-1.75 hours -- Montiel (every 2 hours, Monday - Saturday 7:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m., Sunday and holidays every 2-3 hours 11 a.m.-10:45 p.m.), Líder (every 2 hours, daily 7:30 a.m.- 8 p.m.)
For services to El Calafate, Río Gallegos and other Argentina destinations, and to Puntas Arenas, Chile, transfer in Río Grande.
By Air
The closest international airport is Malvinas Argentinas in Ushuaia (Tel: 02901- 43-1232), though there are domestic flights into Rio Grande (Tel: 02964- 42-1612).
