Ski Resort Cerro Castor

Located 26 kilometers from Ushuaia, the ski resort of Cerro Castor offers perhaps the longest and most consistent ski season in South America. The season lasts from the 9th of July until the 16th of October. It has the reputation of being one of Argentina’s premiere spots for all things winter. With snow conditions that beat those of any competitor, and a geographic location much less drastic than some of the other northern Andean resorts found in Chile and northern Argentina, where winds and temperatures can be brutal, Cerro Castor is the ideal spot for a South American ski trip.

Ski Resort Cerro Castor offers 23 trails and 24 kilometers of Fuegian slope to cut up. The resort uses state of the art snowmaking and snow leveling technology, and during the off season, takes special care to ensure that the slopes are prepared to their optimum condition before ski season begins.

At Cerro Castor it is possible to rent skis of all shapes and sizes: junior skis, snowboards, snowblades, ski fox, snowshoes and Nordic skis. Cerro Castro also provides private and group ski, snowboard and snowblade lessons.

Daily transport from Ushuaia to Ski Resort Cerro Castor and back runs frequently, making it easy to lodge in Ushuaia if you should chose to do so.

Getting There
Several bus companies depart from the parking lot across from the YPF gas station, Maipú & Fadul, to the ski center -- hourly in the low season, half-hourly in the high season 9 a.m.-1 p.m. $11.50 round trip. Remisse or taxis cost about $7.50 one way
