Ushuaia Culture - Other Activity Ushuaia - Argentina

Aside from the museums in the city, Ushuaia has cultural centers where performance and visual arts are showcased. The main tourism office posts the week’s events.


Casa de la Cultura. The city’s cultural center has galleries showing temporary art exhibits and hosts the Cine Club (Monday evenings, free), dance and music concerts, and conferences. Avenida Malvinas and 12 de Octubre, in back of the sports compound.


Antigua Casa Bebán houses itinerant art and historical displays, and lectures on art and history. Open Monday - Friday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., weekends and holidays, noon - 6 p.m. Maipú and Plüschow. Entry: free.


Cine Packewaia plays current and classic movies. Naval base, Yaganes and Gobernador Paz. Entry: Monday $2.50, Tuesday - Sunday $3 - 3.75.


Intimain. This community arts center presents a number of courses, shows movies on Thursday night (9 p.m., Entry: $3 - 5 including beer and snack), and hosts art exhibits and other cultural events. Open Monday - Saturday, 11 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. Rivadavia 451. Tel.: 43-2916, E-mail:

Hike in Parque Nacional Tierra del Fuego, on other trails closer to the city or to Glaciar Martial. Take the Tren al Fin del Mundo to the national park. Visit the museums. Go out to Estancia Harberton or cruise the Beagle Channel. In winter, hit the slopes for a variety of snow sports.
