Money
During the summer, some banks extend their services to include money exchange for foreigners. Most money facilities are on San Martín or on Maipú. Services are also available at the airport. All banks have ATMs that accept MasterCard, Cirrus, Visa, Plus, Diners Club and American Express, with 24-hour access. Bank hours are 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Commission is charged on travelers checks and credit card transactions.

Communications
Send your End of the World postcard to family and friends at Correo Argentino. Packages weighing over a kilogram need to pass through the customs department of the post office (Monday - Friday 10 a.m., Saturday 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. San Martín 309). There are many Internet cafés along San Martín and Gobernador Paz streets. In general, Internet is expensive in Ushuaia, costing up to $3 per hour. At peak times it is slow. Skype is common. A cheaper option is an unnamed Internet shop that charges $1.70 per hour (Monday - Saturday 10 a.m. - midnight, Sunday 1 p.m. - midnight Gobernador Paz and 25 de Mayo).
Telephone booths are located throughout the city, including one at Rivadavia and Paz (Monday-Saturday 9 a.m. - 10 p.m., Sunday and holidays 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.). International rates are from $0.25 per minute.

Medical
Hospital Regional Ushuaia provides medical assistance to the city (Maipú and 12 de Octubre. Tel: 42-1439 / emergency 107). There are several pharmacies along San Martín, including Andina Farmacia (San Martín 638), Farmacia Salk (San Martín 931) and Farmacia San Martín (San Martín 1241). They follow the de turno system in which one is appointed to be open overnight. Schedules and addresses are published in the daily papers and posted in drugstore windows. Most pharmacies are open Monday - Friday 9 a.m. - 10 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Laundry
Soles del Milenio has same-day service if dropped off in the morning (Monday - Saturday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Gobernador Paz 219. Tel.: 42 4108. Wash $3, wash and dry $6 per basket). There are several photo shops along San Martín.
