Stores have extended hours during the summer high season, and often run sales during the low season. Because Ushuaia is a tax-free zone, prices are lower on many items. There are souvenir shops all along San MartĂn, displaying all manner of keepsakes to help you recall your visit to the end of the world, from clothing and jewelry to chocolates and local-fruit jams. Sculptures made of semi-precious stones are a specialty in this town.
Paseo Artesanal Enriqueta Gastelumendi is an indoor artisan market. Over three dozen local artisans crafting wood, stone, leather and other materials have stalls and workshops here (high season: daily 10 a.m. - 8 p.m., low season weekends 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., 4 -8 p.m. MaipĂş and Lasserre).
La AnĂłnima has a huge branch carrying electronics, clothes and other items (about 2 km / 1.2 miles east of downtown, on the Costanera).
