Terra Andina (www.bolivia-travels.com) proposes responsible tourism tours.
Since 2007, we have a community tourism project in Tuni, an isolated village of the Cordillera Real. The idea is to build houses respecting the traditions of the Andean aymara habitat and comfort requirements of Western visitors, and to develop workshops linked to the discovery of the natural environment and the Andean aymara culture, in close collaboration with the community (andean gastronomy, importance of the llama, legends, medicinal plants, weaving,…). The idea is also, of course, to create for our customers and the community an opportunity to meet, exchange and a real discovery of another culture.
We have also established an ecological contribution, which idea is to compensate for environmental damage caused by the consumption of gasoline. Customers may, for any 4x4 expedition and on a voluntary basis, pay us an extra 1usd/day. Our agency then double this participation. The funds collected finance local projects for sustainable development (awareness campaign for the Andean population on waste management, purchase of solar panels for remote villages of the Altiplano,…).
