Traveling to and from Bolivia by land is often the most popular choice for travelers, as its many border crossings are easy to access. What’s more, taking the bus into Bolivia is far cheaper than flying, and travelers who commute over land will not have to pay Bolivia’s $24 airport departure tax.
Regardless of which Bolivian border you are passing through, you will have a few options for crossing. You can take a local bus or taxi to the immigration service, where they will stamp your passport and check your entrance papers, then walk across the border of Bolivia, check in at immigration there, and board another local bus or taxi to your final destination. The other option is to purchase tickets from an international bus company, which are more expensive but make the task even easier. These companies will take you to the first immigration point, you will likely walk to the second, and then you can board the bus again to finish up your trip into Bolivia.
