If you want to get to Torotoro using public transport there are early morning departures around 6 a.m. on Sunday and Thursday, and afternoon departures at around 6 p.m. on Saturday and Wednesday. Buses leave from the intersection Of Avenida Republica and Avenida 6. de Agosto in Cocabamba and take about seven to eight hours ($3.50) longer in the rainy season. The track is rough, whatever the time of year.
Buses return from Torotoro on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday at 6 a.m. Call Trans del Norte (4-456-1700/0480, Cel: 7073-6840) to see if there are additional departures in the high season, or if the road is passable in the rainy season. Be warned, the buses may wait for more passengers before departing, so may not leave on time. There are also camiones ($2) that run the route in the dry season. The road is a lot more comfortable by 4X4.
Tour agencies offering trips to Torotoro National Park include transportation to and around the park in a 4x4 vehicle.
