One of the most popular attractions in the park is the Gruta de Umajalanta, a complex cave system of chambers and passageways, which is thought to be the largest in Bolivia. Almost five kilometers of tunnels have been explored in the complex, and you’ll need ropes, headlights and a good deal of crawling and scrabbling to investigate it yourself (with your trusted guide of course). The caves are eerily dark and silent, and there are some stalagmite and stalactite formations throughout, although unfortunately some have been broken off. At the end of the route there is a lagoon populated by blind, white fish, where you can take a refreshing dip in the depths of the dark pool.
Another popular cave to visit in the park is Cavern de Chiflonqaqa, where there are some well conserved stalagmite and stalactite among the maze of tunnels and water holes.
