There are a number of pre-Columbian ruins in Parque Nacional Torotoro, with the most well-known being the fort of Llama Chaqui. Situated 19 kilometers from Torotoro, it’s a beautiful but exerting four-hour trek each way to the fortress. The ruins are perched on a greenery-filled hill, where you can observe the circular and square foundations of the complex and a large wall around its perimeter, on the slopes of the hill. There are striking views of the surrounding area from the top and you can choose to scale the Cerro Huayllas on the way back, for vistas of the whole park.
