Convento-Museo Santa Teresa - Historical Building Cochabamba - Bolivia

This impressive religious complex contains two 18th century churches – one that was built inside the other - and a maze of rooms, corridors and patios. The Convento Santa Teresa (Calle Baptista and Calle Ecuador) has some beautifully carved altars throughout the building, colonial sculptures and artwork, a cloister enclosing a small garden, and a striking domed roof.

There are guides available to take you on a tour of the convent and churches, including all the aforementioned sites, plus a visit to the roof. The convent is a World Monuments Fund Watch Site for 2010 – see for more details.

Calle Baptista, near corner of Calle Ecuador, Tel: 4-422-1252. Open: Monday - Friday 8 a.m. – midday, 2-6 p.m. Entry: $3.
