Due to its high altitude, PotosĂ is cold year-round. However, this does not make it less pleasant to visit. October to March are the warmer months but there is less rain in April and May. Be sure to take plenty of warm clothes whenever you visit.
In February is the miners’ festival celebration. Held during one week, the sacred statues of the miners are taken out of the mines on this annual event and brought to the Miners’ square, also thought to be a sacred place. On the Saturday of the celebration there is a parade with music, dancing and singing throughout PotosĂ.
On the last three Saturdays of June and the first three of August is the Fiesta del Espiritu, a festival dedicated to Pachamama (Mother Earth), attracts tourists and visitors from surrounding areas.
Perhaps the most popular and a very worthwhile festival to check out is the Feast of St. Bartholomew, which takes place on August 24, 25 and 26. Accommodations fill ip fast during these three days of folkloric parades, sacred dances, music and singing.
