La Plata is a stylish café on the main plaza that is perfect for lunch or an afternoon treat. This upmarket eatery may be a little overpriced, but the coffee is decent and the place is clean. Expressos are arguably the best (and strongest) for miles around, but hot chocolates are the real speciality. Try a submarino (a bar of chocolate in hot milk) or, for something more unusual, an orange cappuccino. Staff can be a bit abrupt, but service is overall satisfactory.
