Sucre Tourist Information - Tourist Information. Sucre - Bolivia

There are a number of different tourist information options in town. At the airport, terminal and in Recoleta (Pasaje Iturricha 300, near Plaza de Recoleta), you will find Oficinas Municipales de Información where you can pick up maps, get recommendations for accommodation and general information about the city. The office in Recoleta also has books and videos to look at and a pleasant terrace area. It’s open Monday – Friday 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., and 2.30 p.m. – 6 p.m.

You can also go to the main municipal office for tourism (Dirección Municipal de Turismo) on the first floor of the Casa de Cultura, Calle Argentina 65, but it’s not really set up for tourists so info is limited.

The prefectura has a departmental tourist office on Calle Dalence near the corner of Calle Argentina. They have a wide range of information on Sucre and the department of Chuquisaca and some info on the rest of Bolivia. There’s an area to sit and plan and lots of maps. It’s open Monday –Friday 8 a.m. – midday and, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The university tourism office has information about Sucre and Chuquisaca, Uyuni, Potosí and Bolivia’s national parks. They can put you in touch with a university student who can act as your guide around the city or further afield. This can be a great option if you want to go out to local sites, such as the painted caves, by local transport. The office is run by tourism students from the university. It’s open Monday – Friday 9 a.m. – midday and 2 p.m. – 6.30 p.m., but hours can be a somewhat irregular. The office is normally shut in January and February.
