The Museo Nacional de Arte is housed in a former 18th century palace, the Palacio de Los Condes de Arana. The baroque style building consists of three floors with arched balconies made of pink granite, overlooking an attractive patio. The permanent exhibitions centre on Bolivian colonial artwork, of which they have an impressive collection. This includes pieces by Melchor Pérez HolguÃn, who was considered the master of baroque art in the Andes region. There are also displays of pre-Hispanic art, contemporary sculpture and artwork and pieces by Latin American artists. There is also a regular program of temporary exhibitions from Bolivian and international artists.
