Just up from Plaza San Francisco, on Calle Evaristo Valle, is the Museo Tambo Quirquincho. This beautifully restored 18th century building is a former tambo, which served as both lodging house and marketplace for visiting Aymara selling their wares during the colonial period. Some of the museums most interesting exhibits include a display of Carnival masks, photographs from late 19th and early 20th century La Paz and a collection of silverware. There are also some contemporary art exhibitions.
