Getting To and Away From Huatajata

To get to Huatajata, catch any of the buses or vans heading to Copacabana. These generally leave from the Cemetery District in La Paz, or can be caught in Huarina, if you are coming from the north. Leaving town is simple, just flag down one of those same buses in which ever direction you want to go. There are numerous camionetas that run between La Paz and Copacabana each hour, just wave one down that has the sign of your destination in the front window. Taking the bus should cost around $2.50 (18 Bs.) from the capital, and just under $1 (5Bs.) for transport from the lake. If you wish to hire a taxi for private service and a bit more comfort, expect to pay much more.
