Aside from an ATM, Copacabana has everything you might need in terms of services. Whether you are coming from Peru (most likely Puno) or La Paz, you can attend to all your needs here-- as long as you come prepared with cash.
Police and Post
Both the police station and the post office are on Avenida Jáuregui, on the north side of Plaza 2 de Febrero.
Tourism Office
In theory, the Centro de Información Turistico is open Tuesday - Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (in practice, it is open whenever they feel like it).The center offers maps and other pamphlets about the city, plus tour, hotel and restaurant information. Av. 6 de Agosto and 6 de Julio.
Health
Copacabana’s hospital lies just south of the city center, off Avenida Tejada. While it’s a decent facility, the hospitals in La Paz are more likely to have English-speaking doctors and also are better equipped to deal with major issues.
If your ailment isn’t serious enough to merit a hospital visit, stop in any of the pharmacies along 6 de Agosto and Avenida Jáuregui. If you can describe what’s wrong, the pharmacist can most likely offer a solution.
Internet
There are plenty of Internet cafés in Copacabana, especially on the main tourist drag, 6 de Agosto. Connection can be slow, and prices are costlier than in other parts of Bolivia ($1.50 / 10 Bs. per hour). Try Alf@Net (Tel: 28628522, Calle 6 de Agosto 100) for newer computers, equipped with Skype, printer access and a decent connection speed. There is also a pool table, book exchange and video room in the back. Aqui Entel, just down the road on 6 de Agosto, also offers internet, fax, cabiñas for local and international calls, and a book exchange--but no printing.
