Most activities in Lake Titicaca center around one basic concept — seeing the lake. Travel by boat is the most common way to get around, and boat tours around the lake and to Isla del Sol are readily available. Prices for boat tours vary depending on the tour length, type of accommodations and boat quality. For example, guided tours can cost between $125 and $300 per person per day with accommodations. But the budget-minded traveler can rent a lancha to (slowly) take around the lake for about $12 a day.

Anyone can find their own perfect way to see Lake Titicaca and its surroundings. Apart from the standard boat tours, visitors can hike to ancient Inca ruins, haggle at weekend crafts markets in Copacabana, visit man-made reed islands, watch the sun set behind the Cordillera Real or sea kayak (no, Lake Titicaca isn’t technically a sea, but as the largest lake in South America by volume, it may as well be). A trip to the Incan cradle of civilization is unforgettable, and Bolivia’s side of the impressive lake has plenty to offer.
